The new policy, indicating a closer cooperation with Italy, diminishes the danger of anti-Semitic Nazi influence, although on the other hand, the surprising exclusion of General Karl Vaugoin, known as the chief Nazi opponent in Austria, and the fact that Emil Fey, well-known for his anti-Nazi attitude during his term as police president of Vienna, did not receive any executive power, being appointed as vice-chancellor, is noted with disquiet.
