Sir O. E. D’Avigdor Goldsmid, newly created #aronet contrasted the attitude of Germany and England in a speech delivered yesterday before the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

“The honor conferred upon me shows the striking contrast between the attitude of England and Germany”, Sir Osmond declared. “The value of the honor, both to the Jewish community and myself, is enhanced because it was awarded at this time.”

Sir Osmond also announced that James G. McDonald, League of Nations High Commissioner for German refugees, is arriving in England on January 25, accompanied by leading representatives of American Jewry, when full discussions will follow.

“We considered it advisable to postpone the creation of the advisory body, recommended by the London conference for the relief of German Jews until we know what action the autonomous body headed by the High Commissioner will take,” Sir Osmond declared.

Sir Osmond was created a baronet in the King’s New Year Honors list for valuable public services to the County of Kent, of which Sir Osmond has long been a resident.
