Attacks upon Jews became virulent as pro-Nazi Germans of this city, organized as the Friends of the New Germany, held their second public meeting. George Froboese, secretary of the local unit, denounced the Jews of this country, charging that they “are trying to buy up this country.”
Although the meeting had been advertised in both the English and German press, it drew less than 700 people, including over 100 Jews, socialists and other anti-Nazis.
The first issue of a paper published by local Nazis, called Wisconsin Beobachter on its German section and Wisconsin Observer on its English page, was distributed at the meeting.
