News that Jacob Suritz, Jewish diplomat has been appointed Soviet Ambassador to Germany appeared in yesterday’s Voelkischer Beobachter, but the newspaper made no editorial comment.

Publication of the story is, however, taken to be an indication that the German government has ratified the appointment.

The news story, which is accompanied by a photograph of Suritz, adds that he will enter his post during the middle of July.

Suritz’s predecessor, Chintschuk, also was Jewish.
