The villa owned by Dr. Bernhard Weiss, Jewish deputy police chief of Berlin under the republican government, was confiscated today by the Nazi regime. Dr. Weiss, an energetic and efficient police officer, was bitterly hated by the Nazis, who accused him of having used exceptionally brutal methods in suppressing Nazi meetings.
When the Nazis came into power they made an extensive search for Dr. Weiss, who was out of Berlin at the time. The hunted man calmly returned to Berlin and then, realizing the full extent of the Nazi hue and cry for him, escaped abroad.
Dr. Weiss is now in the employ of the Chinese government. He is in China, where he has been placed in charge of training a national police for China.
