The Jewish Chronicle of London criticizes Sean Lester, League of Nations High Commissioner for Danzig, for not taking steps against anti-Semitic activities of the Nazis in Danzig. The paper states:
The Nazi press of Danzig is as filthy in its invective against the Jews as the party press of Germany. Indeed, the Danziger Forposten recently went so far that it drew a protest from a German newspaper. The Forposten declared that a leading Jew had urged the Jews to let their children graduate as doctors “in order to be able to send to death as many non-Jews as possible.” The Munich medical organ commented to its credit that the statement of the Danzig organ was “an unheard-of lie” and that the Germans must be thankful for the services rendered to medicine by Jews of the type of Professors Ehrlich, Wassermann, Behring and others.
The main hope of the Jews in Danzig at present lies in the possibility of intervention of Mr. Sean Lester, the League of Nations High Commissioner for Danzig. In a small place like the “Free City” he could do much by personal contact, but as yet he has done nothing for the Jews in spite of the fact that these anti-Semitic acts are in contravention of the Danzig Constitution, for the maintenance of which the League of Nations is responsible.
