Commenting on Dr. Weil’s advice to the Jews of the Saar, the correspondent of the Daily Herald said it is certain that the Jews who remain in the Saar are “facing persecution with open eyes.”

The atmosphere is already tense for the Jews, the Daily Herald reported, adding that Jewish children are being hooted at in the streets, while menacing mobs of Nazis gathered outside Jewish shops and made threatening remarks.

A Jewish cafe owner in the center of Saarbruecken told the Herald correspondent he was thankful that British soldiers were billeted in his home.
