had to face a good deal of argument which undoubtedly have tended to weaken the strength of his Nazi group. It is the feeling of Jewish leaders, however, that the outcome of this trial is the coup de grace to Mr. Whittaker’s anti-Semitic group, especially since he avoided meeting the issue.
The Canadian Nationalist, published by Mr. Whittaker has not appeared since a temporary injunction was issued against him by the court last November. It is not expected to appear now, since the verdict of the court prohibits anti-Jewish propaganda and thus practically destroys Mr. Whittaker’s movement.
CANADIAN NAZIS HARD HIT BY WINNIPEG DECISION
The anti-Semitic Nazi movement in Canada will definitely decline as a result of the verdict issued in Manitoba against William Whittaker, prohibiting him from publishing anti-Jewish propaganda, the American Jewish Committee learned here yesterday.
Word received by the American Jewish Committee from Canada disclosed that the failure of Whittaker to appear in court and to defend his anti-Semitic viewpoint may reduce his Nazi organization ### an insignificant group. In the city of Winnipeg this organization has almost reached the vanishing point already, but in some rural districts Mr. Whittaker and some of his lieutenants are still carrying on, but with diminishing effect, it was stated.
