Cahan lauded the Workmen’s Circle for its idealism, and declared that it has a “dualistic purpose” which includes both materialism and idealism.
Vladeck compared the organization to the Gulf Stream, asserting that “its inspiring influence runs its own course but at the same time affects other currents.”
The organization was founded thirty-five years ago by a group of Jewish industrial workers who desired to provide educational and welfare activities for themselves and their associates through funds contributed out of their own earnings.
After the Workmen’s Circle rally, Madison Square Garden last night was the scene of a pageant entitled “We Build America,” presented by the International Workers’ Order in celebration of its fifth anniversary and opening its third annual convention.
