Jews Are Safe, King Carol Tells Trade Leader

Download PDF for this date

King Carol of Rumania today gave his personal assurance that the Jews need not fear any of the anti-Semitic agitation in the country.

“The future of the Jews in Rumania is safe,” King Carol said in an audience which he gave to M. Chelouche, President of the Palestine-Rumania Chamber of Commerce.

The monarch also expressed his enthusiasm about Jewish achievements in Palestine.

The king’s statement is considered highly significant in view of the fact that anti-Jewish propaganda has assumed serious proportions during the last few weeks, and has reached a point where King Carol himself was warned not to be friendly towards the Jews.

The Palestine-Rumania Chamber of Commerce, which has its headquarters in Tel Aviv, is now working on plans aiming to develop a larger import of Rumanian products into Palestine. There is no direct commercial treaty between Rumania and Palestine.
