The Western Mail, a daily newspaper in Cardiff, England, carries the following editorial:

His majesty’s gift of a young tree from Windsor Great Park adds a touch of rare distinction to the King George Jubilee Forest which the British Jews are to plant as a memorial on the hills of Nazareth. Re-afforestation is a sentimental as well as a practical feature of the rejuvenation of Palestine. The Balfour Forest is in the same neighborhood, in the Plain of Armageddon. Birthdays and other occasions of thanksgiving are marked by contributions of money for the planting of trees, and the Holy Land, almost treeless at the end of the War, is assuming a sylvan cloak. During the centuries of their grip on the country the Turks wantonly destroyed the trees, and there were few birds in the land. Today the birds are returning and the planting has considerably improved the climate.

ABOUT THE BROTHERS MENDELSSOHN

The London Evening Standard under the headline “Banking, Music, Philosophy,” comments as follows on the death of Franz von Mendelssohn:

The death of Herr Franz von Mendelssohn has deprived the famous Berlin banking house of that name of its two senior partners within a month.

Franz’s brother Paul died in May.

Of Jewish origin, but not practising Jews, they were accepted at the German Court in pre-War days.

They were given the “Aryan” hall-mark by the Nazi regime.

Franz was a patron of music.

Paul’s house in the Alsenstrasse was a meeting-place for painters. His collection of Gauguins was world-famous.

Moses Mendelssohn, first famous member of the family, was a champion of Jewish emancipation in the eighteenth century, and a philosopher who won high praise from Kant.

AUSTRALIA GETS ‘ANGLE’ ON JEWS

The Angle, a new Australian newspaper published in Melbourne, announces its policy on the Jewish question as follows:

The paper is opposed to what has been termed “Jewish domination.” It is opopsed to Jewish culture and ideals generally. It will endeavor to replace the Jewish by the ideals and culture of our own race. Finance, international finance, has far too long been the deadly weapon of parasitical Jews, who, owing no spiritual allegiance to any country, too often make profit out of the distress of the countries wherein they are guests.

We believe that the Jewish hopes of world dominion are not so unwarranted as many Christian people believe.

This paper, in the near future, will give authentic news from abroad not available to the usual daily papers.
