A resolution to form a scientific training camp (hachshara) to aid the transfer of Jewish youths to Palestine was adopted by the eleventh national convention of Avukah, student Zionist organization, which closed at the Mayflower Hotel here last night.
The convention adopted a number of resolutions backing the labor Zionist movement. Avukah voted to become the campus representatives of the League for Labor Palestine. Other resolutions passed provided for a Jewish National Fund program with a minimum quota of $1,500, pledged support of the United Palestine Campaign, scored the proposed Palestine legislative council and favored joining a broad front of student organizations.
Zelig S. Harris was re-elected president and Sylvia Binder, national executive secretary. Principal speakers during the convention were Charles A. Cowen on “Youth in Zionism” and Goldie Myerson of Palestine on the “Histadruth and Labor in Palestine.”
