Strong condemnation of terrorism was voiced Friday at a conference of the National Labor Federation, during which the federation’s attitude on minorities was discussed.
Addressing the conference, President Illiepeter Calciu declared:
“Not by beating up citizens, breaking windows or burning newspapers can the standard of living of working people be improved.”
Condemning recent terroristic outbreaks against Jews, M. Calciu said:
“As long as national minorities are living among us and do not interfere with the unity of the State, they may be assured of our protection. Our duty is to assimilate them, make them feel like good Rumanians.”
His speech was well received in Jewish and democratic circles.
