Anthony Eden, Foreign Secretary, today bluntly refused a request in the House of Commons that he ask the German Government for assurances that it does not propose to use the Olympic Games for political propaganda.

Capt. Eden evaded answering a further question by Geoffrey Mander, Liberal, framed as follows:

“Isn’t it notorious that the German Government is using all these things for propaganda for the regime and could we not have some security that persecution of Jews will not immediately commence when the games are over?”
