JERUSALEM (Dec. 4)
Jewish children in the colony of Ben Shemen narrowly escaped death this morning when a band of five Arabs fired at the colony’s watchman. The bullets missed the watchman and crashed through the windows of the children’s bedroom. (Lord Peel, chairman of the Royal Commission recently visited the colony incognito, it was disclosed yesterday.)
Several trees in the neighboring Herzl Forest, planted in memory of political Zionism’s founder, were destroyed by marauders.
Arab newspapers said an Arab peasant was murdered near Jerusalem, the assailant escaping.
The Royal Commission this morning continued private sessions, hearing Treasurer William Joseph Johnson.
