NEW YORK (Sep. 9)
Courses for ministers, rabbis, students, and laymen interested in the history of the Bible and religion are being offered for the first time by the Jewish Theological Seminary. The four courses will be delivered by three Seminary Professors, Dr. Alexander Marx, Dr. Louis Finkelstein, and Dr. Alexander Sperber, and a visiting lecturer from Yale university, Prof. Edwin R. Good enough.
The titles are: History of the Second, Jewish Commonwealth, Jewish Life under the Law, Introduction to Philo, and the Septuagint in its relation to the New Testament. This is probably the first institute of interdenominational studies to be offered in a Jewish institution of higher learning. It is intended to acquaint theologians and interested laymen with the Jewish background of Christianity.
