BERLIN (Jan. 25)
A library of 40, 000 volumes given by departing Jewish emigrants for ultimate presentation to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem has been confiscated by the Gestapo, it was revealed today.
The library, which included valuable German and Hebraic works, was presented to The Friends of the Hebrew University during the past two years and was kept in the offices of the German Zionist Organization.
Nazi commissars have been appointed to superintend the activities of several Jewish communities, including those of Frankfort and Dresden. Reports of the confiscation of the property of these communities proved to be untrue. Neutral observers regard such confiscation as unlikely since the communities support many impoverished Jews.
