The German economic weekly Wirtschaft reports that 2,000 Jewish merchants have left the Czech city of Machrisch-Ostrau since the German occupation, admitting that the city’s economic life has been seriously damaged although Nazi commissars have been appointed for the bigger Jewish establishments.

It was reported from Prague today that a Nazi military court has sentenced a former Jewish lieutenant in the Czech army, Joseph Fischer of Pilsen, to four months’ imprisonment for insulting a German soldier.
