On the grounds that it had violated three New Jersey State laws, the German-American Bund’s $100,000 Camp Nordland has been deprived of its license to sell liquor in a ruling by the Andover Township Committee hailed as of far-reaching importance.
The camp’s license expired on June 30 and since that date it had sold liquor on a temporary permit pending expiration of the legal two-week period during which objections to renewal of the license could be raised. Objections were made by representatives of the American Legion and the Disabled War Veterans, who charged that the camp had violated the State laws prohibiting sale of liquor to minors, parading in uniforms resembling those of a foreign power and dissemination of printed matter tending to arouse racial and religious hatred.
