The Nazi invading forces in Poland are treating Jews in occupied areas brutally and sentencing many Jewish leaders to death, according to information received here today.

A mass flight of tens of thousands of Jews towards Wilno and Volhynia has gotten under way. Thousands en route to Wilno suffered severely from continual aerial bombardment and were unable so far to proceed past Grodno.

Food was denied to Jews in the occupied areas. Many Jewish soldiers preferred suicide to surrender where it was impossible to prolong resistance.

Polish authorities and Jewish organizations were trying to evacuate Jewish women and children. The Lublin and Wilno Jewish communities were organizing relief for refugees but were hampered by the lack of communication facilities.

It was reported that the Nazis sentenced to death several Jewish leaders in Krakow because of allegations that civilian Jews had fired on German soldiers.
