A painting by Cyril Ross bearing the title “Nazi Persecution and Sacrilege–Anno Domini 1939” is described by the Daily Telegraph’s review of the Academy exhibition as the “picture of the year.” The painting portrays storm troopers in a raid on a synagogue and its congregation.
