Formation of a National Academy for Adult Jewish Education under the auspices of the Rabbinical Assembly and Jewish Theological Seminary was proposed at the Assembly’s fortieth annual convention today in a report of the Adult Education Committee read by Rabbi Leon S. Lang, Germantown.
Prof. Mordecai Kaplan, in a paper on “The Function of the Rabbi in American Jewish life,” said that the rabbi “should function in respect to Jewish life as social engineer, as educator and as theologian.”
