Declaring that “free speech doesn’t cover a multitude of sins,” Magistrate William Klapp in Harlem Court today sentenced James Downey, a Christian Mobilizer leader, to 30 days in jail or payment of a $50 fine on a police complaint of using abusive and offensive language against Jews on the night of Aug. 14. An additional 15-day workhouse sentence was imposed but suspended. Downey paid the fine.
