The outbreak of fighting in Iraq has aroused intense excitement in Palestine and the belief is widespread that the Holy-Land is now on the front line of the war.
Scores of Jews tried to enlist in the British forces yesterday, without waiting for the draft of all unmarried Jews between the ages of 20 and 30 proclaimed by the Jewish authorities for Sunday.
The Polish Consul-General in Jerusalem ordered all Polish citizens in Palestine under the age of 45 who received financial aid from the exiled Polish Government to join the Polish army immediately, with the exception of priests and rabbis.
