More than 4,500 East European Jews, holders of immigration certificates to Palestine, have been permitted by the Turkish government to pass Turkey on their way to Palestine, it was reported here by the Immigration Department of the Jewish Agency.

A substantial number of these emigrants came to Istanbul from Soviet-occupied Lithuania, through the port of Odessa, while approximately 2,000 came from the Balkan countries by way of the Black Sea. Arrangements were made by the Jewish Agency which enabled the proceeding of the emigrants from Istanbul to Palestine.
