Palestine Oranges Used for War Industries

The citrus crop in Palestine is now being utilised for various acids needed in connection with the war industry, Colonial Under-secretary Hall disclosed in the House of Commons today.

Hall reiterated that the Palestine Government had guaranteed £517,000 in advances to citrus growers over two years and that the British Government was prepared to give financial assistance if Palestine’s resources were insufficient to meet liabilities.

General Wauchope, former High Commissioner of Palestine, today sent a message to the Jewish National Fund in London in connection with the launching of its Victory Campaign for Palestine. “I wish all the good fortune to the Jews of Palestine who range themselves alongside the British forces to repel and defeat the Nazi hordes”, the message read.
