Concentrating the major part of its program on defense problems, the 46th annual convention of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States opened here today with 2,000 delegates from all parts of the country.

Greetings from President Roosevelt, Governor Lehman and from the Mayor of Buffalo were read to the delegates. Sheldon, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Non-Sectarian anti-Nazi League, attacked the America First Committee as being “nothing but a front for Adolf Hitler.” He disclosed that the anti-Nazi League has repeatedly asked Lindbergh “to denounce Hitler, or at least to denounce his persecution of political, racial and religious minorities, but not once to date has Lindbergh opened his mouth on this point.”

Prof. Sheldon accused Senators Wheeler and Nye of forcing through a resolution allowing Wheeler to investigate so-called war propaganda in the movies and on the radio. “It is a good illustration of Nazi minds that all except one of those invited to appear bear a conspicuously Jewish name, thus making it possible to emphasise the Jewish origin of the persons concerned,” Prof. Sheldon stated.
