Prominent Dutch Rabbi Dies in Netherlands

Rabbi M. Hirsch, chairman of the Council of Dutch Rabbis and president of the Agudas Israel in the Netherlands, has died in Zwohle, according to information reaching the Agudas headquarters here today. He was a prominent religious leader in Holland and was decorated by Queen Wilhelmina on the occasion of his silver jubilee in the rabbinical service. Special permission was granted by the occupation authorities to have the coffin brought to the Zwohle synagogue where memorial services were held. The services were attended by local Dutch officials and a large number of Jews.
