Two hundred and seventy children will be removed from the Nazi satellite lands of Hungary and Rumania, and brought to Palestine, as a result of a triple-play rescue move involving the Jews Distribution Committee, the Hadassah and the International Red Cross, it was announced today by Joseph C. Hyman, Executive Vice-Chairman of the J.D.C.
The children, who will be escorted out of Hungary and Rumania under the supervision of the International Red Cross, have already received transit visas through Turkey. Their transportation from Turkey to Palestine is being defrayed by the Joint Distribution Committee, which has just made a grant of $19,000 for this purpose. Palestine certificates for the children were scoured by the Hadassah.
