Jewish Leaders at “victory Prayer” Ask Guarantees for Mingrities in Post-war Europe

National minority rights in post-war Europe must be guaranteed so that they can not be violated later, Edgar J, Nathan, Jr., Borough President of Manhattan, declared last night addressing 3,000 prominent Jews at a “prayer for victory” held at the Temple Emanu-El marking the anniversary of Pearl Harbor and the celebration of Chanukah.

“The war will have been fought in vain if, in any corner of the world, any law abiding peoples, however few and impotent, cannot enjoy the same privileges and freedoms as do other citizens of the country in which they are living,” Mr. Nathan said, No victories on land, sea or air, or at the final peace table, will have any meaning unless the sacrifices of our armed forces are honored by the assurance that the freedom we fight for will be extended to all groups, he added, The “Prayer for Victory” was arranged under the auspices of the Metropolitan Council of B’nai B’rith.
