A resolution recording horror at the persecution of the Jews by the Nazis, hailing the recent Allied declaration and demanding that immigration barriers be lifted to allow free immigration to Palestine was adopted in Manchester at an inter-denominational protest meeting attended by prominent Jewish and non-Jewish leaders and by leading Anglican clergy.

Among those who addressed the meeting were the Lord Mayor of Manchester, the Bishop of Manchester, the president of the Free Church Council, and several members of parliament.
