A conference of Palestine rabbis called to discuss the controversy about the religious education of the Jewish children who recently arrived here from refugee camps in Teheran, yesterday cabled to the Union of Orthodox Rabbis in London, asking its members to halt the boycott of the British Keren Hayesod Campaign. The rabbis are boycotting the fund drive as a protest against what they consider is an attempt by the Jewish Agency to deprive the refugee children of proper religious guidance.

As a result of the conference, which was addressed by Chief Rabbis Herzog and Uziel and Moshe Shapiro, representing the Agency, it was agreed that an orthodox inspector would be appointed to the staff of the Youth Aliyah, which is responsible for the childrens’ education and welfare. The rabbis decided to continue their negotiations with the Agency, looking towards a “rectification” of the present arrangements.
