Palestine Court Sentences Jew to Seven Years Imprisonment for Possessing a Bullet

Elihau Sacharcv, who at one time served as Dr. Chaim Weizmann’s bodyguard, was sentenced today by a military court here to seven years imprisonment on the charge of possessing two bullets, one of which was serviceable. Major Baxter was the prosecutor.

The trial lasted only one day. Mayor Israel Rokach of Tel Aviv appeared in court as a character witness for Sacharov. When cross-examined by Major Baxter, he stated that he knew of the existence of the Jewish defense organization, Haganah, and considered its establishment justified. He added that he did not know from what sources the Haganah secures arms.
