A demand that the British Government open an inquiry into the methods of the prosecution at the recent arms trial in Palestine was voiced here by speakers addressing a Balfour Day celebration. Both the Johannesburg meeting and a rally in Capetown passed resolutions demanding the abrogation of the White Paper of 1939.

The executive committee of the Zionist Federation of South Africa has cabled to David Ben-Gurion, chairman of the executive of the Jewish Agency, urging that he withdraw his resignation from that body. South African Zionists were greatly shocked by the reports of the labor leader’s resignation.
