The executive of the Jewish Agency today received a cable from Dr. Weizmann expressing regret that he is unable to proceed to Palestine as he was asked to do in connection with David Ben-Gurion’s resignation, since he is at present engaged in important political talks in London, the outcome of which may have an important effect on Palestine’s post-war status.
Dr. Weizmann suggested in his cable that Ben-Gurion and other members of the executive come to London to participate in the political activities which he is conducting there. He urged the members of the executive to exercise their influence upon Ben-Gurion to have him withdraw his resignation.
Addressing the national conference of the new party, Aliyah Chadashah, which is composed of immigrants from Germany and Austria, Dr. Felix Rosenblueth, president, said that though the conference will not take any stand with regard to Ben-Gurion’s resignation, it should, nevertheless, make support of Dr. Weizmann an integral part of its program. He demanded that new elections be held for the Jewish National Assembly and for the municipality of Tel Aviv, declaring that these two bodies no longer represent the actual sentiment within the Yishuv.
