Louis E. Spiegler Named Washington Representative of World Jewish Congress

The appointment of Louis E. Spiegler as Washington representative of the World Jewish Congress was announced today by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Administrative Committee.

Mr. Spiegler a prominent member of the Bar of District of Columbia and the United States Supreme Court is a veteran of World War I, and from 1919 to 1926 was a member of the staff of the Bureau of Internal Revenue. He is a member of the executive committee of the Zionist Organization of America, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Council and the Jewish Social Service Agency of Washington.

For the last two years, Mr. Spiegler has been the Washington counsel for HIAS and represented that organization in all its contacts with the government, primarily with the Board of Immigration Appeals, Interdepartmental Visa’ Review Committee, Visa Division Department of State, Immigration and Naturalization Service, War Refugee Board, Foreign Funds Control. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law School.
