The British Embassy here today released the text of a letter addressed to it by the World Jewish Congress expressing the hope that the Allied governments will exercise “an unremitting watchfulness through the Allied Control Commission to ensure the faithful execution of the terms of the armistice” with Rumania.

Emphasizing that the Congress hopes that the same pattern will be followed in future armistice agreements, the letter expresses satisfaction with the terms of the armistice which provide for the immediate abrogation of all racial legislation in Rumania and for the release of all persons detained owing to their racial origin, but urges at the same time that “the right to the return of confiscated property which is expressly safeguarded in the case of Allied nationals, should be enforced in the same way for all persons, irrespective of nationality, or racial origin.”
