Relief supplies for the 40,000 Jews who survived German extermination in Bulgaria is now being sent by the Joint Distribution Committee, it was announced here today by Joseph C. Hyman, executive vice-chairman.
An emergency relief grant of $50,000 was made last month by the J.D.C. to official Jewish community organizations in Bulgaria. Arrangements have also been completed by the J.D.C. for the shipment of $60,000 worth of medical supplies to the Jews in Sofia and other Bulgarian towns. The J.D.C. has also arranged for the purchase in Palestine of 10,000 pairs of shoes and additional warm clothing at a total cost of $180,000 to be shipped to Bulgaria, Mr. Hyman reported.
