Consultations are now going on between the United States and Britain in an effort to fix a time limit for the work of the Anglo-American commission on Palestine, it was disclosed yesterday by Secretary of State (##) F. Byrnes at his press conference. He expressed hope for an agreement on this with within the next few days.
The Secretary said that an agreement has not yet been reached with the British on the number of members to be appointed by each government, but he has advised President Truman that he is in communication with British Foreign Secretary Bevin on the question, Mr. Byrnes voiced the hope that a decision will be reached in the next by or two, so that appointments can be made and the committee can start its work.
