Bergen-belsen Rabbi Received by De Valera; Prime Minister Expresses Sympathy for Jews

Prime Minister De Valera today received Rabbi Meisels, Bergen-Belsen, to whom he expressed his sympathy for the Jews of Europe. He told Rabbi Meisels that he understood the desire of the Jews for a national home.

Meisels, who was accompanied by Robert Briscos, only Jewish member of the Irish Parliament, also visited various members of the Irish Government and the chairman of the Senate. He gave Briscos a report of the situation of the Jews in the British zone Germany, which Briscos will discuss with De Valera in an effort to have the Government intercedes for the Jews.
