The situation of the Jews in Poland has deteriorated to the point where in most communities Jews are forced to carry firearms for self-protection, Henry Montor, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, said today upon his arrival here from Poland.
In a brief interview before departing by plane for Paris, from where he plans to fly to Palestine, Mr. Montor said that the Jews of Poland are living in a perpetual state of fear. Attacks upon Jews are increasing and anti-Semitic bands are operating openly. Jews are stopped in the streets and attacked without any provocation, he reported.
