American Jewish Conference Appeals to Truman to Reject Palestine “federalization”

Calling upon President Truman to reject “federalization” for Palestine, the American Jewish Conference in a telegram to the White House today termed the British proposal “a scheme which countenances the trading of lives for a specious plan which can solve nothing, will not allay existing tensions in Palestine, and will only prolong the agonized insecurity of uprooted European Jewry.

“The very consideration of the British proposal destroys the confidence of the American Jewish community in Anglo-American negotiations on Palestine,” the message added.
