Brazilian Government Sympathetic to Truman’s Efforts to Assist European Jews

The Brazilian Government is sympathetic to President Truman’s attempts to aid the Jews of Europe, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Souza Leao Grace told Rabbi Samuel Wohl of Cincinnati, who is making a tour of Latin America. The minister, who received Rabbi Wohl today, declared that his government is still studying the situation and has not yet arrived at a policy in relation to the Jews.

Rabbi Wohl is scheduled to meet various heads of Brazilian political parties during the week. He will also visit the National Constitutional Assembly and confer with a number of congressional leaders.
