American military authorities who had been notified by the Czechoslovak Government to prepare for approximately 3,000 Sudeten Jews whom the Czech authorities intended to deport, ordered the halting at the border of any train carrying Sudeten Jews, it was learned today.
The order was issued following information from Prague that Czech Jews who gave their nationality as German in the pre-war census would be deported. It was learned here that a train load of 100 Sudeten Jews was moved out of Prague on route to Germany, but they never arrived at the border. It is assumed that the publicity aroused by the move resulted in the release of the Jews before the train reached the frontier. Subsequently, the Czechsrevoked the deportation order.
