Four British soldiers on duty at the Caraolos camp for interned Jewish immigrants on Cyprus are reported to have died in an outbreak of typhoid, a dispatch from the island said today.
Twelve of the Jews have been stricken by the disease, according to the same report, which adds that the camp has been isolated. It is believed that an acute water shortage contributed to the epidemic.
