A group of Jewish refugees from Europe who came to this country on tourist visas have been made eligible for naturalization, it was revealed here. They will also be permitted to accept employment, which they were not allowed to do formerly.
The government’s decision, handed down by the Ministry of the Interior, followed appeals by Jewish leaders representing the Joint Distribution Committee, HIAS and the Jewish Central Committee, organized in a Commission for Legal Affairs. It was reported that Minister of the Interior Hector Perez Martinez consulted with President Manuel Aleman before announcing his decision.
