The Attorney-General in Kenya officially denied today reports that the Jewish detainees in the Gilgil internment camp will be repatriated to Palestine immediately prior to the expiration of the Palestine Mandate on May 15.
In a message to the Assirei Zion committee here, he said the Jew, who were ##ent to Kenya for alleged acts of terrorism in Palestine, would be returned to Palestine before the scheduled evacuation of British troops ends on Aug. 1. He added, however, that if the United Nations objects to this plan, the Jews will be repatriated before May 15.
Meanwhile it was learned here that a small group of sick detainees will be returned to Palestine shortly. Jewish inmates in the camp have protested the Attorney-General’s order to postpone their release until the later date and have urged strong intervention in their behalf.
