French Government Withdraws Licenses for Export of Arms to Lebanon and Syria

The French Government has withdrawn export licenses granted to private munitions firms which have obtained contracts for the delivery of hugs quantities of arms end ammunition to Lebanon, and Syria. It was reported here today. A furor was raised within the government several weeks ago when it was learned that one minister had granted the license without prior consultation with other members of the Cabinet.

A mass meeting arranged by the French League for a Free Palestine vas halted Last night by pro-Arabs in the audience. Police, explaining they could not legally interfere since the meeting was public, advised the League to cancel the rally.
