BUCHAREST (Jun. 24)
The prosecution today summed up its case against the 57 defendants in the Jassey massacre trial and demanded the maximum punishment — life imprisonment — for nearly all of the accused. Three prosecutors took turns summing up the week-old case against the Rumanian army officers. Civilian officials and civilians charged with responsibility for or participation in the pogrom which in 1941 cost the lives of 14,000 Jews.
