Supplies for Israel Collected by Chicago B’nai B’rith to Be Turned over Today

Eighteen carloads of vital supplies collected by the Chicago Council of B’nai B’rith for toe state of Israel will be turned over tomorrow to Eliahu Epstein, Israeli Minister to the United States, who will accept the $500,000 worth of commodities on behalf of the Provisional Government of Israel.

Morris Alexander, president of the Chicago council, which collected the supplies in a five-week campaign, pointed out today that “not only members of B’nai B’rith but many other members of the Chicago Jewish community and hundreds of non-Jewish citizens rushed to contribute materials, Church groups, civic organizations, labor organizations, the Youth for Christ movement and others all joined hands, he said.

In addition to Messrs. Epstein and Alexander, Frank Goldman, B’nai B’riJh president, and Maurice Bisgyer, executive secretary, will also participate in the donation ceremony. Much of the equipment was assembled by Materials for Palestine. The supplies include Jeeps, trucks, automotive supplies, hardware, tool, medical supplies, canned goods, surgical instruments, electric motors, radio supplies, cameras, watches, clothing and tents.

Five ambulances were made available over the week-end to the Red Mogen David by the Jewish People’s Fraternal Order. They were turned over to Red Mogen David official in a ceremony at City Hall here.
